New patients

A comfortable start
to something personal.

You can take this one step at a time. Here is what to expect, what to bring, and how to get ready for your first conversation.

What happens next

A clear beginning.

01

Choose a starting point

Book an appointment through Headway or schedule your free 10-minute initial consultation. If you need help choosing, call the office.

02

Share what brings you here

Your first evaluation includes your concerns, health history, past treatment, and goals. We may use questionnaires to better understand symptoms and how they affect you.

03

Discuss a plan together

We will review our assessment, talk through options, and discuss follow-up. Bring questions about anything that is unclear or important to you.

Virtual visits

Make a little space
for your care.

A few small preparations help your telehealth visit feel more comfortable and focused.

  • Choose a quiet, private place with a reliable internet connection.
  • Check your camera and microphone, and have your appointment link ready.
  • Keep your medication list and questions nearby.
  • Attend while safely seated, never while driving.
  • Confirm the state and physical location where you will attend.

Your provider and visit type determine whether telehealth is appropriate. If your connection fails, use the contact instructions provided for your appointment.

Questions before your visit

Let’s clear
a few things up.

For questions about your own circumstances, contact the office.

Get in touch
Do I need a diagnosis before I book?

No. An initial psychiatric evaluation is an opportunity to talk about what has been difficult, review your history, and make sense of your concerns. You can come with questions, even if you are not sure what to call your experience.

Do you offer virtual appointments?

Yes. SurePath offers virtual care for patients in New Jersey, New York, and Vermont. Eligibility depends on your provider and where you will be located for the visit. Confirm your appointment format and location when scheduling.

Will I have to take medication?

Your clinician will discuss the options that fit your needs, history, and preferences. A plan may include medication, supportive therapy, practical strategies, or coordination with another clinician. Medication decisions are made together after an assessment.

Do you take my insurance?

We work with a range of insurance plans. Your coverage depends on the specific plan, provider, state, and service. Visit our insurance and fees page, or contact the office before your appointment so you can understand your options.

Can I speak with someone before I schedule a full visit?

Yes. You can schedule a free 10-minute initial consultation (opens in a new tab) to ask about the practice and discuss whether our care is a fit. A consultation is not a full psychiatric evaluation.

What about care for a teenager?

Our practice serves patients ages 13 and older. Contact us to discuss provider fit, the parent or guardian’s role, and the information or consent needed for the appointment.

What if I need to change my appointment?

Contact the office or use the scheduling instructions provided with your booking. Ask about the cancellation and rescheduling policy before your visit so you know what applies.
